3 Reasons to Join a YNPN Phoenix Committee
I’ve never really seen myself as the “kind of person” who joins committees. Whether I tell myself I don’t have the time or don’t know enough YNPN members, there’s always an excuse!
However, in the brief time that I’ve been a part of the Communications Committee, I’ve discovered that taking the step to get more involved with YNPN is both simple and worth it.
These are just three of the reasons why you should get plugged in:
Meet people. Joining a YNPN committee is a great way to take a break from the office and get to know new people in a smaller environment. While networking events usually make me feel somewhat awkward or nervous, joining a committee is entirely different. The groups are much smaller, and it’s easy to feel at home and start helping with tasks right away.
Learn new skills. A committee is the perfect place to try out new strategies on different platforms, practice event planning or work on your networking. Feel free to voice your opinions and pitch ideas at each meeting — no one is going to judge you for voicing unusual ideas, because we’re working together and we’ve all been there!
- Make an impact. When you get involved with a YNPN committee, you have a unique opportunity to collaborate with local nonprofit leaders from across the Valley. Get to know the people who work in the community around you, and start bouncing ideas off each other. You never know how these new relationships will help you in the future!
